1997 BMW E39 528i for sale (http://www.panjo.com/buy/1997-bmw-e39-528i-for-sale-203177)
Selling my 97 BMW 528i with automatic trans and 200K miles. Good black paint & black leatherette interior, runs & drives great. BBS 16" factory wheels with black plastidip. Wheels are in excellent condition under the dip if you're not into that look.
Sunroof, ice cold AC, factory AM/FM/tape & CD changer. Upholstery is good, headliner is good, no cracks in dash, a couple of cracks in wood trim. Continental DWS tires with good tread. Recent professional (legal) tint.
New parts in early 2014:
cylinder head rebuilt at Clearwater Cylinder Head
new sparkplugs
oil filter housing gasket
Victor Reinz head and other gaskets
entire cooling system including:
radiator
fan clutch
thermostat
thermostat housing (aluminum)
coolant reservoir & cap
all hoses
all belts
water pump
New parts in later 2014/2015
front rotors (standard Brembo)
rear rotors (Kelsey Hayes)
brake pads (Posi-quiet)
windshield wipers a few weeks ago
New parts installed before 2014:
stock transmission cooler
drivers window regulator
ignition switch
front control arms with bushings & ball joints
headlight adjusters
PCV system update
passive fuel siphon pump
probably more
I'm getting almost 19MPG driving around town. You would probably get 23 on a long highway trip.
Needs:
The check engine light is on because of a bad secondary air injection pump. This has absolutely no effect on how the car runs or drives. You can get an electronic gizmo that will fool the computer into thinking it works and shut off the light, or just ignore the light.
The passenger rear window regulator is bad. The window is up - don't put it down!
It could use new tie rod ends in front.
The rear defroster doesn't seem to work.
The rear muffler was removed and replaced with a nicely-made pipe. It sounds sporty and isn't too loud, but if you don't like it, you can get a nice used one cheap.
Airbag light on.
Drivers headlight high-beam bulb-mounting hole melted by careless installation of new bulbs. You can swap the new headlight adjusters out of this light into the replacement.
No evidence of any significant accidents. It does have the usual dings for a car of its age, and somebody bumped it in a parking lot and put a crack in the front bumper below the headlight. Has had past paint repair on drivers rear quarter and (iirc) door. Details unknown.
Price is pretty firm. It's barely more than parts-car money and this is a good car. But I'm moving and need to sell soon. Delivery possibly negotiable somewhere along I-75 or I-95 between FL and NY at end of July only.
