Anyone have a parts E23 around still?

I need the dryer off a US 733i (late) or 735i for measurements as I am going to make it work on a Motronic 745i. The proper unit shows NLA and is over $220 where listed, no thanks. New 735i unit is $80. Most difficult part is going to be figuring out the proper angle out from the unit for the beadlock fitting to clear all the stuff under the hood.

In any event, post up or PM me if you have one you do not need.

Thanks!

Are you planning on using stock hoses?

FWIW this is the one I used on my 1979 and it fit fine. I can get you installed pics if you want.

No, I am going to build my own hoses to replace the 30 year old ones. Also going with reduced barrier for easier bending through tight places. This Mastercool manual crimper I have purchased is just awesome. I need to buy a few more die sets for the RB hose, but no big deal. Already have the '86 MY condenser and better aux fan, along with a new Sanden. Probably just toss 134A in there for now to make sure the evap core is not leaking or I will pressure test with Nitrogen and charge with R12.

Then I will have A/C and working vacuum, but no heat. :rolleyes LOL

Sure, post up some photographs. I am not against universal stuff, but I do prefer to use a factory part where available (like the 735i dryer), for ease of future part replacement.

What's wrong with your heater? I think if mine ever goes out I'm just going to replace it with the Vintage Air Heater control (http://www.vintageair.com/Instructions2013/903401.pdf). I did that on my S1 XJ6 and I was even able to mount the control behind the stock knob - you could not tell anything was different and it worked very well.

Here are some pics - I even removed the air filter just for you (kidding - I'm getting ready to adjust valves). I am with you about sticking with stock/factory but sometimes it's hard to justify, especially on older cars.
You can see that I have the high/low pressure cut-out switch (black wires) wired in-line with the compressor but I never wired up the fan switch (blue wires) because I decided to go manual.

Heater core leaks, started after 4000rpm in OD. Oh well ha.

Waiting for another member to install a full metal unit before I order mine.

Autohaus and BavAuto are selling new Behr units for like $20 right now.

The last one I purchased was Made in China and one of the pressure switches did not fit correctly. :shifty Sent it back, received another... same BS. All of Behr fan clutches now come from there, radiators are still not from there... for now. Behr will soon be on the black list if they keep this crap up, just like Uro, Hamburg Tech, Meyle, MTC, etc.

I guess I can thumb off $20 for mock up purposes. At least the hose fittings were still okay.

Yeah, can't beat the price if you're not worried about functionality. You want to make me a set of AC hoses too? :)
