Oh, my head... Theoretically anything is possible, such as restoration in this case, but as much as like M1's I could never want that particular car after seeing its current state. It's too morbid. Like looking at a corpse morbid. That one should be let go... Perhaps it is just an expensive parts car now?

I don't see any way it's a parts car. It's not an "easy" fix, but it's 1000x easier to fix than if a lot of other cars had taken the same hit. All the good stuff is safely in the back. They probably paid much less than the asking price. I heard that seller likes to start very high and negotiate.

This reminds me the time back some 20 years ago in San Francisco. An older gentleman had a hard time unloading a nice dark blue '79 M1 with black interior. I believe the asking was $42k. The car was nice, garaged, ~20k miles...I was a broke ass student. Ok, maybe not a hard time, but it was for sale for a while, as I often passed it pulled out of the garage with a for sale sign on it.
