Hey all... New to the Bmw world. I've been driving MB's for a long time and wanted to experience something new. BTW, I own a pre-owned car lot, so, I get to buy and drive whatever I want (provided I can sell it later).

So, I bought a 2011 E92 335i, Alpine White with Dakota Coral Red interior. It has the M-sport suspension as well as 19 inch wheels. P Zero run-flats... Well, the first thing I noticed was harshness of the ride. Is this mostly from the suspension or wheel/tires? Or is this just a combo issue that would significantly change by changing the wheel/tires?

Ultimately, I can sell this car without an issue and start over; however, I'm a big fan of the coral red interior on an E92 so if starting over, I'd need this.

Thoughts? Help?

Stacey

Most likely those run flat tires. That is one of the biggest complaints about run flats, in general. As for the 19s, not sure if they are stock or not. The E92 came with 18" rims, so those 19s on your car may be heavy replacements and that will cause harsher ride. Test driving a completely stick one will tell you a lot. The M sport suspension is a bit firmer than stock as well.

Star Spoke (Style 230) Front 19X8 225/35; Rear 19X9 255/30. These are stock wheels from BMW. See the car here:

The tires are harsh.

Generally speaking, regardless of tire construction type (RFT or GFT), the higher the sidewalk ratio value of the tire, the harsher the ride.

Add to that, the chance of wheel damage increases as well. It's a pretty consistent behavior.

hey if you have the m-sport it is going to ride harsher......those run flats don't help one bit........and it is not a MB.

I have 19's on my 335i Msport also. Switching to Michelin Pilot Super Sports softened up the ride (non-runflats), and they stick like glue!

Think you mean smaller rather than higher... but exactly right on results.

Your are correct. Also, I love how my spell-checker changed sidewall to sidewalk, too...

Yea, I knew going into this, the car would be much harder... I didn't really expect the tire noise to be so noticeable as well as how firm the car is... Next time, ill go without the M-Sport suspension as I'm not a rebel rouser driver...
