I need advice, please. I have a 2006 BMW 325i and had to have it towed today.

I drove about 7 miles (going about 80 mph) when I got a message on the control panel to say the engine temperature was high and to drive moderately. If message appeared again, I was instructed to take the car to a BMW center. Well, I did slow down to about 60mph and I did receive the message again, so I pulled over and called a tow truck to pick me up and take the car back to my house. The nearest dealer is about 80 miles away, so I need to find an authorized repair shop to see what the damage is.

I did notice when I started the car today, that the fan was running very loudly. Now that I think about it, the car has sounded like this for about a week whenever I start it.

The weather has been very cold outside and I leave my car parked outside. The car also hasn't been driven in about a week. I am wondering if these two factors might have contributed to this problem.

Thanks in advance for your feedback! I am hoping to get the car in for service tomorrow. Any suggestions for excellent service centers in Stockton, CA??

probably needs a waterpump.

water pump, thermostat, 3 new water pump bolts, gallon of BMW coolant, for about $500. Add in another $1000 of labor if you use the dealer, or $500 in labor if you have a good indy shop do the work.

How many miles on your car?

Dealer labor is about 5 hours, so $600, not $1000.
