My haste = early Xmas present to yourself.
My Hoosier R6s were cycled out and I had to quickly buy new tires before the next HDPE... I could not find any R6s so I bought a set of Hoosier R7s while on a phone at airport waiting for plane to board (aka in a hurry). Well, I was excited that I got to try the new R7s - until mounting them and taking them to MSR Cresson... they rubbed on the inside corner in Big Bend (about 1/2" on sidewall near tread) on the smooth aluminum frame. When I got home I finally had time to research the stats.. the R7s are wider and fatter than the R6s were... I then bought long studs and 4mm spacers. I quickly determined that it is too risky that I will wipe out my outer fenders (fiberglass) so I had to take them off. This is on a Lotus Exige. My loss is your gain. I own an M3 and I know these are common BMW sizes so I thought I would post it up!
I got these new in late October from Tirerack with heat cycling shipped to my door for $638.
They have a weekend of HPDE (TDE) - 8 sessions total (<25min sessions) at MSR-C on my 2070lbs Lotus Exige. I normally get 30+ sessions out of my tires before they heat cycle out... on my car they cycle out before showing cords.
I will sell them locally (no shipping) for $SOLD.
Here are the stats:
r6 245 22lbs
10 max width in (sidewall)
9.3 tread width in
r7 245 21lbs
10.3 max width in (sidewall)
9.7 tread width in
I would think its hard to judge tires via pictures which is why I tried to describe the use and car they were used on... but people always want pictures so please see the attached. The positives are that these are hardly used, were used on the rear of a very light car, and at a track that is easy on tires. They stuck like mad - I hate that I can no longer run Hoosiers in this size!!!!
