I'm just now finally getting around to swapping on my winter set up but I noticed that the winter tires have an arrow on them indicating the direction of rotation. I assume if you put them on with the rotation going the wrong direction the results could be catastrophic. I will install them so that the arrow spin in the directions the tires turn while I'm driving in forward gear as this is the direction I spend most of my time driving. But what do I have to do for those rare circumstances when I need to use reverse gear such as backing out of a parking spot? Do I need to rotate the tires left to right before backing out and then swap them again before pulling forward? This is so confusing I don't want to break anything.

Its just a directional tread pattern, spinning backwards a few feet isnt going to end the world, they still maintain traction. Just install them with the arrow pointed forward and drive on them.

Breathe in first or out first. I always forget.

This is gonna make me late all of the time! Also reminds me I should stock up on extra lug nuts because I will probably lose some swapping the wheels so often :)

Speaking of avatars, what plane is that in yours Bimmr?

Yah this is what I hate about directional tires. I would highly recommend you swap them every time you want to go in reverse. Its just safer.

I had a friend who was too lazy to swap them one time. It was like dividing by zero. Needless to say, he's not with us anymore.
