Ok, just got the car a couple weeks ago and cant figure this one out. The manual says the Dealer can help set this feature but I am thinking someone on this forum should be able to explain it. The seat/mirror memory function is goofy, sometimes it wants to move the seat to seemingly random positions when you unlock the car using the remote. I tried switching keys with my wife thinking we had the wrong keys(1 and 2) but it still seems to move to random positions....just not all the time. I think it has something to do with the steps we are taking when we lock and un-lock the doors. Or it is screwed up and needs to be re-set. Here we go.....oh yeah..2003 530I with sport and cold weather packages.

The keys don't match the M1,2,3 settings on the door. The stored settings per key are independent. Your manual should explain.

The manual says the key fobs can be matched to the #1 and #2 memory buttons at the dealership. They do work with the fobs but nothing makes sense, sometimes when you push the button they don't move, and sometimes the seat and mirrors move but not exactly to the position previously set. I was hoping somebody on the forum would know.

Update- Sorry posted too soon. Just read "rdz"s post again. Makes sense that the fob does not match the M1,2,3 door settings. Now I just need to figure out how to disable the fob settings. We have had a couple different BMWs over the past years and it is just fine to push the button on the door when we change drivers. Thanks "NDZ".
