I have an 03 525i and I need a subframe and lower rear control arm. What other years/models will interchange? any e39? I can have access to a 98 540i...will that be the same?

They should fit. Check in RealOEM to compare part numbers.
Yeah, I think they are the same except for the front subframe between the I6 and the V8's.
My car is an 01 prod date is 9/00 iirc. Cracked my rear subframe and found one off craigslist off a 98 however it was attached to the entire rear end/suspension (shocks, sway, diff, shaft, controls, wheel carrier, brakes, etc you name it). Was $150, too good of a deal so I took it. Instead of tearing it all apart for just the subframe I put the doner rear suspension on to replace mine.
Everything worked out fine, I reused some stuff like my shocks. The only problem is the ASC vs DSC which I'm dealing with right now. I'm pretty sure the wheel carriers are the same just the sensors going in are different. Only problem is since the doner suspension was outside for god knows how long one wheel sensor is corroded and stuck on. Once I drill that out I will finally know whether the wheel carriers are truly interchangeable if my warning lights go off.
EDIT: Also like Jim said check realoem its quick and easy. Put in your VIN and the 540i's for more precise info.

i checked realoem.com and it appears that the part numbers for the 98 540 subframe and lower control arm match the part numbers for what is listed for my 03 525. so looks like its a go! thanks guys
