Wassup bimmerfiends, I just got a 95 530i about to hit 150k miles. I love music. Hip Hop mostly with vintage rock in a close second. So I want to ask what type of music do you guys like to ride to in your precious e34. I really like an artist named Curren$y,a very classy jazz like rapper. Also Outkast's Aquemini album. Led Zeppelin The Doors all those guys. Share some artist or songs if you like hopefully we can enhance the driving experience just a touch.

Thanks mane, I've grown used to people saying "hip hop aint even music". It's all good, there's something for everyone from all genres. have and particular songs that you like from the progressive genre?

Yeah, I started out with just classic rock than expanded from there, a lot of the stuff I listen to now I would have never listened to when I was a kid, but at least I've learnt there is no point hating different genres of music.
Progressive isn't what I'm listening to at the moment but I really like "I talk to the wind" and "Moonchild" off the King Crimson album called "In the Court of the Crimson King" Epic stuff. Of course I can't think of King Crimson without thinking of Tool, anything by them is amazing. Also the New Zealand band called Frozen Alice is great, should check out tracks called "Qadesh" and "Elysian" and if you want heavier than "Everyday".
That should be enough for now.

Once drove Chicago to N. Carolina with Doors L.A. Woman album repeating over and over. Not a bad track on it and great driving music. Would do it again.

In the Court of the Crimson King is a great album. I haven't heard it in a while, but might go dig it out now. Very influential, crazy stuff considering how old it is...

There's another thread about this.
I like the 60s and 70s. Primarily Jimi Hendrix, Pink Floyd, Led Zeppelin, The Doors, Beattle (espicialy the later works), Rolling Stones, Golden Earring, Deep Purple. Wow I might just be a stoner.
And the one really different music I truly enjoy is symphony/orchestra music.

Man that is one of the best driving albums ever... Listening to "Riders on the Storm" at night when you're cruising down the highway... good stuff. Their first album is good too, a little more energetic.

It's absolutely sick. Not everyone's cup of tea, but I love it. The history of the band is really interesting, and kinda explains why the later albums were so different.
Anyway, to answer your question OP, I don't listen to anything in my E34, because of this:

Head unit is out because it, or the amp, is draining the battery. I'm on the look-out for a good audio installer in the MD/VA/DC area for when I have the money saved up, but I haven't found anyone with E34 experience. Don't want to take it to a shop that does Civics and Scions.

Did you know that if you drive your car in reverse while listening to dark side of the moon, you'll eventually crash it

Lot's of classic rock, a bit of electro swing from time to time, and then sometimes in the more Naked and Famous - Smallpools - MGMT - Passion Pit direction <<< whatever sort of genre you call that. On the rare occasion some hip hop or rap. AKA practically everything... even country.
