Was the water pump ever changed? How about the radiator?

Do you still have the mechanical fan? It would be worth test the fan clutch.

In my overheating experience it either or a combination of
Thermostat
Fan Clutch
Water Pump
Aux Fan
[radiator blocked with corrosion - rare'ish]
Once you get the leaking fixed, either a hose, radiator expansion tank seal, coolant lever sensor seal or radiator plastic to aluminum seam split under pressure.
