Hello

Could be a few things.
If the cylinder bores are scored or excessively worn it really wouldn't matter if you have new rings.
Did you do anything to refresh the head while it was off? Valve guides could be leaking oil into the combustion chamber.
How much oil are you burning?

I am assuming you ruled out a hidden oil leak?

it is burning around one quarter from one oil change to another.

I heard that was normal, but on the other hand, mine only burns 200ml maximum between oil changes

One quart between changes is not terrible (unless you are changing your oil every couple weeks). Mine burns a quart about every 3-4k miles, but I also have 296k miles on the clock and feel like I'm willing to deal with that.
Do you blow smoke out of your exhaust or have any running issues with the motor? How many miles are on this thing, and what oil weight do you use?
Oh yeah, m20 or m50 motor?

Came in here thinking "Welcome to the Club" lol.
My 530i does, and so does my brothers m50 525i.

I think we would better be able to help you out if we knew which engine your car has in it. If it is an 89 or a 90, it'll have an m20 motor, if it is anything newer, it'll have an m50 motor in it.
My car burns about a quart every 600-700 miles, but I'm certain it's due to my super heavy foot and the fact that all the internal engine seals have 300k miles of wear on them.

My M30 doesn't burn any oil.
Mind you it leaks about a quart every few hundred miles.......
