Hello !
I have a question regarding heated seats. Like every blank European E34 post '92 has nothing prewired. My car has no wiring harness to connect heated seats to. I got myself a set of heated seats and kind of stuck with the wiring. I know there are 3 wires to get it to work. One is black/gray, another one is black/green/yellow and third is obviously a ground. The question is, what are the colored wires exactly and where do they originally come from ? Are they just 2 wires with different voltage or do the heated seats require some kind of relay or module ?
I managed to find schematics for 88-91 E34s, but mine is 95. As the wire colors are all different, it's pretty difficult to shoot from the hip.
Thanks in advance

Thank you for the links.
I found that black/green/yellow wire comes from the front power distribution box, so that's power which is hot whenever the ignition is on or the engine is running. Second wire (black/gray) comes from the light switch - this is where I get stuck. Logically thinking, I guess it's the power for the switch' lights whenever I turn on the park/headlights. Anyone is able to confirm, deny ?
Thanks in advance

The ETM should tell you which wire it is. Are you using a meter to confirm the wires?

Well, I got the above information from the electric diagram manual from one of the links shogun posted. I guess they are indeed the same wires, fulfilling same functions as I stated above. All I want is a confirmation from anyone who knows it for sure or who has done it before. And when I am about to wire the wiring, then for sure I use a meter.

I can confirm that the heated seat switches do light up when the parking lights are on so using the process of elimination (:

I was aware of that. Kind of what helped me to find a logical explanation for it to have 2 power wires. But thanks for the response ! :)
I guess I should just dig out my portable 12V battery and test it on the seat itself. Will let you know with the results.

Make sure you have a fuse in the spot for the heated seats.
Mine didn't work when I installed them, went hunting with the multimeter just to find the fuse wasn't there from the factory. #16 (seat heating and lumbar support) on my car (1994 poverty spec 525i).
....mine did have the wiring present. I just plugged the seat in and it worked, after installing the fuse.
