will a 275 width tire fit on 10.5 wheel safely?

Yes that's a good size tire for a 10.5. It won't be stretched at all though.

If it is going on the 1995 3 Series you are going to have to do some modification to make that fit.

Then you would want to check the offset to see what you have. You would want to have around a 25mm offset. Lower and they will probably hit the fender lip. The 275 is the best size for that size wheel on the car.

Ok thanks, right now I have on csl reps 19x9.5 et25 with 265/30 at stock height with no problems. Looks like I still have some more room to play with

You could even run the 265's, but they'll be a tad stretched. It helps for clearance, but not for drivers who like to grind their wheels into curbs. ;-)

These wheels can handle stretched tires.

I've got 265/35's on 11.5's and 235/35's on 10.5s.

You'll be fine, lol.

I would not want to be driving with you on a track with that much of a stretch. Just because you can do it does not mean you should. A 235 is meant to fit on no wider than a 9.5 wheel. With that much stretch the tire can more easily unseat and come off the wheel.
