For the past couple of days, I'm have been googling, reading from Service Manual, and looking though forum. I cannot find what is this auto part called. Please guy and my BMW experts can you help find the name for this item.

Coolant temp sensor. Looks like the connector melted then someone tried soldering it back together.

Maybe there's something wrong with the board software? I just tried to upload a perfectly good JPG of a defective part to another thread, and got a white error box saying "this is not a valid image file". So who knows.

Major hardware changes this weekend. See announcement top of forum page. May have something to do with attachment issue.

- - - Updated - - -

Reported issue. Also noticed all photos in my album are blank.

I see the pic just fine. It's a temp sensor for the coolant that controls the two-speed auxiliary pusher fan. Relatively common wear item.

Yes. The wire connection ought to be familiar and provides scale.

It is a switch

"A" BMW or an e34?

... bracket for driver glovebox?

XCRN
10-01-2014, 02:40 PM
To simplify things, I found it in an E36 thread but I would imagine it could potentially be used for E34. It is for an uncommon accessory.

I would have never known except for I just recently was curious as to how the recirculating ball steering in our cars worked so I looked up diagrams and one of a power steering pump showed up as well in the search.

I do not have anymore photos at the moment so you someone else will need to take over.

Does it contain a chip for coding? Audio amp equalization chip?
Is this E34?

It does contain a coding chip, but for what?
Hint: Euro spec thingy.

Nope.

Sriufke
10-03-2014, 05:52 PM
Okay, It's a OBC coding plug used in low-version e34s and diesels. Contains such data as: Engine capacity, fuel tank capacity and other thing which helps to calculate such things as: MPG/instant cons. values.

Someone else, please take over. :)
