I pick up a set of chrome mpars wheels. Originally taken out from 2001 7series. I was taking of powder coating them black due to the fact 1 wheel the chrome is flaking off.... What do you guys think? Any ideas? Suggestions?

Go ahead? I think they will look ok. I am sure the internet has some car with black m pars on it so you can get an idea what they look like.

For the amount of work it's going to take to remove the chrome and the cost of having them powder coated you're better off buying a set of reps - or perhaps another OEM set that doesn't require so much work.
Or just spray paint them and live with it.

I would say no to black also. I would see what the cost of removing chrome from the powdershop is first to see if you can't get a different set of wheels for a better price.

Thanks everyone for your suggestions..
I found a shop that would do gunmetal grey for 250.00 on all 4 wheels....I might just do that.

I think $250 is a fair price for all four wheels' chrome to be removed and powder coated
+1 to gunmetal grey. Are you coloring the entire wheel or leaving the spokes silver and the centers to be colored?

I'm going as close to the original Mpars.

If you're looking for opinions, I hate gunmetal wheels on most cars. Gunmetal typically ends up looking like brake dust/dirt to me, and combines with the tire to look sloppy, with the exception being well-done lighter silver/polished rims around a gunmetal center.
I'm probably in the minority here, also hating things like black kidney grills on black cars, etc.

gunmetal centers with the lips polished would be a good look

That's an amazing price, way beyond fair.
