Mine stays around 230 all the time. Maybe 240 after a hard pull.
At what point does it get dangerous?

I was running about there on a 2011 335i, on the high end. Usually ran around 225 until I drove hard, which was daily Often needed top top off the oil after about 2k miles.

300 and it will go into limp mode.
Normal for me is 250. I have a '11 E92 N55. I don't think I have a factory oil cooler.
My car's performance seems to be influenced a lot by temperature. At the drag strip, running 250 degrees, I run an average of 14.0 @ 100. But if I let the car cool for an hour of so, I can knock off a couple tenths and add a mph.
At the track, at around 250, I can hit 135+ mph (speedo indicated) on the straight portion. When if gets hotter, I can't go past 100 on that straight. And, of course, when it hits 300, limp mode.

Check your manual, which gives 'normal' operating temps. Mine 2011 335i is up to 310F

Don't worry about it. For whatever reason they just run hotter than most cars. Very normal of the 335. I have an 07 e90. Runs around 230-240 typically. On a hot day and me driving hard it will get up to 250.
