Yesterday morning may 335 had no warning indicators but it said the front brakes were due in 2200 miles. This has been consistently decreasing over time as expected. Then I took it in for an oil change and routine inspection. When I picked it up the front brake warning was red and it said the brakes were overdue by 9000 miles! They said the pads are at about 20%.
Maybe they knocked the sensor loose? Or could this have something to do with how they reset the oil change interval?

I have the same warning on my car. I replaced the front pads and rotors recently, but did not replace the wear sensor. I was able to reset the service indicator, but about 2 months later, the -9000 miles warning came up. I pulled the left front wheel and the sensor seems firmly in place. My plan is to pick up a new sensor and plug and play to see if the warning light goes out.

Had a similar issue 2009 335i... My brake service light was on and kept saying 1000 miles but never changed after about another 6000 miles of driving...took my car in for an oil change and when I picked it up they told me my brakes were fine and it was a software issue throwing the code. They updated the software and the light went away.

Interesting, thanks. I need to learn more about these sensors; I know some models have a two-stage sensor. But I've heard you should always replace them.
At any rate the CBS reset itself last night and is now showing 1300 miles.
