I use a passport 8500, and I love it. It has fantastic range on the highway. It gets a little annoying through towns because it doesn't have the false radar blocker or whatever passport calls it. The GPS enabled new one, the passport max seems like a good choice right now, but the price may be a touch steep for the average person.

I have a passport max... I like it a lot. It has speed trap warnings and red light warnings as well. Which is really nice.
The biggest downside is they don't update your software with new speed trap/red light data without having a subscription. The trial subscription is only 30 days too.

Valentine 1 and passport are the top models.

The Valentine 1 was really revolutionary but its technology is kind of old now. I've had a Passport Escort 9500ix for over 3 years now and I love it. It's super sensitive in that it will alert you of a cop way before you see him but it will also "learn" to ignore false positives like automatic doors. It has built in GPS that stores the locations of the false positives and stores them to ignore them. The GPS will also warn you verbally when you're approaching a red light camera (It will verbally tell you "WARNING! Red Light Camera Ahead!"

Since I got my 9500ix the Escort MAX has come out. I don't know much about it but I can say the Escort 9500ix is an excellent choice.

passport 9500ix for couple years and it is solid. I had my old passport since I got my license in 94 and it lasted for 15 years. Actually I still have it and it works fine. Sometimes use it in my wifes car. The only reason I got the 9500 was for the GPS function.

Valentine v1 or escort passport max. If money is tight an used escort 9500ix is also good- used to have one and the number of times it saved me well paid for itself.

Escort Redline here. Very rigorously tested on trips amounting to over 10,000+ miles and not putting along either. If you don't care about having a stealth radar detector, I would recommend the 9500 for the gps function as well.

I have the valentine 1 with the mobile app that displays the specific frequency on your mobile phone. It saved me on a number of occasions. No regrets but I gotta wonder if the escort passport offers even more bang for the buck.

I have the Escort Redline and it's been great for three years. I live in VA, so stealth is a must.
