hi. I have a 1991 e34 with a supercharged m50b20 non vanos..
the problem started when i replaced the coolant in the car, and i washed the motor at the same time.
I flushed the coolant and put new in, along with a new thermostat. When i fired up after the coolant job, it ran on 5 cylinders.
I let the car run for a little while, and i noticed that coil on sylinder 4 got really hot, so i swapped coils on sylinder 1 and 4. then i fired it up again.
let it run for a couple of minutes, and then the coil on sylinder 4 started smoking, it literally melted.

so far, i've replaced all 6 sparkplugs, and coils (used, but they supposed to be ok).

any ideas please ? :D

Sorry for my english-skills, I'm from norway... : )

sounds like you have a bad connection to the cylinder 4 coils, you have to be careful washing engines as the electrical connections do not like water.
