During a drive today I noticed a not loud, but distinct chipping/chirping noise from the left rear on my 750, it's cyclic and gets faster and slower with speed. I immediately thought there was something stuck between the disc and caliper, so I appiled a little brake and no difference what so ever. Checked the discs and calipers with my hands to feel if one were hotter the the others, wheel centers aswell if it's a bearing, which I really doubt since thats a competely different sound. Car feels solid and stable. Hard to tell if I can replicate the sound in reverse as it's unwise to go fast backwards with the gearboxes in the e38's (so I've been told.)

Any takers?

All help greatly appreciated.

Engage the parking brake a couple of clicks while driving. If the noise goes away, check your parking brake shoes and hardware

Trasportador: Tried that, no change. Stone between the disc and heatguard?

Might be, but that's such a tough spot for a stone to get to, and then lodge itself. I still vote taking the rotor off to have a look behind it for good measure.

You were partly right, seems like it actually is the handbrakepads. And it seems like the read brakepads are shot, which is wierd since the discs all around are brand new.. WHO changes discs and not pads at the same time?
