Is this good to put in my girl? I dont mind wrecking the cat as I just passed smog. Other than damaging that will it have any negative effect or has anyone had a negative experience with the stuff? Just bought a bottle and Im gonna add it all to my oil in a few hours unless theres some legitimate reason not to. Thanks guys (and gals?)

I am not familiar with Lucas, but any amount of ZDDP(zinc) is good for the M30. There have been exhaustive reviews on ZDDP levels in motor oil (Google it). Some off the shelf oils with high levels of ZDDP are Shell Rotella, Brad Penn (hard to find) and others.

Alright, well its in. It didnt blow up so Im assuming everything is ok. On another note however, I need a new intake boot and my steering box input shaft has like 10 degrees of play from center... That doesnt seem ok to me. The engine was just shut off and the fluid was like 1 inch below the mesh screen. I have the ZF box and gold fluid canister. Could this be a big problem?

And I forgot to ask, does anyone know where to get an intake boot that lasts more than a year?

Don't buy the MTC boot.

Proper way to check the steering level is to release pressure from hydo boost system and then check the level. Should be 10mm from top. With car off; pump brake 10-20 times to purge pressure.

I use to own a rental car company. It was a sub-prime independent company with cars having between 150K to 300K miles. The cars were beat to death and run into the ground, by the turds I had for customers.I used Lucas products and they worked like magic. I am talking about hundreds and hundreds of cars thru nearly a decade. I sometimes bought 150K+mile cars smoking, burning a quart of oil in a few hundred miles. I would flush the engine and run half the crankcase filled with Lucas, mixed with oil to start with. I would cut it back to 1 quart of Lucas, and run these cars to sometimes 300K miles with only moderate oil consumption, and no smoke. The other products worked also, such as the power steering seal, and transmission fluid.
I use Lucas in my personal cars as well. The latest 850i I bought over a year ago had a small leak and used oil with the synthetic oil used by previous owner. I flushed the engine went with 10w40 Castrol part synthetic for high mileage cars and a quart of Lucas. In the summer I use 20W50 of the same oil and a quart of Lucas.....guess what, leak gone and oil consumption down to normal!!!! LONG LIVE LUCAS, THE MIRACLE ADDITIVE!!!

The PO of my car used Mobil 1, 15W50 the entire time he owned the car, almost 20 years. I decided to stay with it. I was pleased when I found out it has one of the highest zinc levels of any synthetic, 1300 ppm. Mobil publishes a chart of all the levels of their oils.

Any alternatives to the rubber boot? A metal one would be nice with rubber seals only where the. IACV, emissions, and Crankcase breather hose go in. Anyone? Possibly a turbo setup that has a replacement for it?

Factory or true OEM hose with properly mounted and secured air box and good motor mounts. He worked for many years and miles.
