Hi,

I hope someone can help a newbie out, I have a 1997 BMW 328ic automatic and I was having issues with the top... the car was taken out for a couple days of driving with the top up and I could not get the tonneau cover to open. With the engine off and the key in the ignition turned forward I disconnected the top motors and re-engaged them and was able to help the top down.

After getting the top down I took the key out of the ignition, went and did some other stuff and came back to drive the car away and now the key will turn ahead (radio and lights come on) but the engine will not crank (not even a click). Initially I thought the battery may be low so I charged it overnight, still no luck. The key that came with the car does not have the remote, and the car only has 63k miles and has been garage kept.

I've tried numerous things after searching for immobilizer issues.

- disconnected the battery and reconnected
- checked the fuses under the hood
- charged the battery overnight
- left the key in the ignition for 10mins then tried
- tried locking and unlocking the doors
- tried stating in neutral

Does anyone have any other suggestions on how to reset the immobilizer or does the car need to be towed? :mad

When checking the fuses it says some fuses for the immobilizer and anti-theft are under the glove box, does anyone know if you have to take the cover in the foot well off?

Any input would be greatly appreciated :)
