Well for a year I battled an issue where my car would just randomly run really terrible.
Lately Ive had a draw on the battery so I have to push the car off every morning. But today I decided to just jump it, well... the key gave power to the chassis but wouldnt crank anything. I retried a few times and eventually it would intermittently wouldnt even give power to anything.
So, opinions (even though it needs replacing anyways). I realized once turned on the key can be removed from the tumbler so thats good and worn out.
But would this make a car intermittently run like crud?

You have 2 different problems. One: the key/tumbler is worn out.
Two: The ignition switch (behind the key/tumbler) MAY be shot. Two separate components.
Now I'm not sure if BMW can still get you a new tumbler pinned to your key code. If the answer is no, you might check a decent locksmith to see if they have the ability to do so. Have 2 new keys cut to match the newly pinned tumbler. (one spare)
The ignition switch behind the tumbler can be replaced at the same time, BUT you may simply have a bad ground...The ignition switch (electrical portion) is probably $35-100 depending on what year car you have.

Maybe it was just me, but when my battery was on its last legs, my car ran like crap...

Id believe that, when they get really low you cant even push start these cars. The system has to have some power. But, I feel like my batteries being dead is always a by product of something else, like somethings been killing them. When I disconnect the ground and go to put it back on you get a little spark like something is on / pulling power.

Webb,
Off topic. Is that body kit an Erebuni or Duraflex?
