Air Bag deployed blew off by itself ! any advice?

so i was driving back home after work when my side air bag deployed and exploded by itself :shifty! has anyone had similar thing? and what did you do?

I called insurance but wont cover it. BMW needs ~1k to have it repaired ! i emailed BMW of north America and hopefully they can help me out.

Any advice you guys have?

Damn, old airbags are actually dangerous, as they have a 10 year shelf life. I hope this doesnt start happening to more folks!

I hope BMW doesn't give you the 'well they're only good for so long as outlined in the service book' line, but don't be surprised if they do :/

yeah! i think i will have to fix it in case i had an accident or something (God forbid!) the person next to me needs to somewhat covered !
