View Full Version : Valve adjustment hep

Well I started my first valve adjustment and on my second valve the eccentric didn't seem to have enough adjustment to make it tight. I noticed 2 valves have what looks like tops on the valves between the eccentric and the valve stem. Is this normal? How do I fix it

This valve cap looking thing is only on 2 valves.

now I gotta go look. but I have never seen that or at least noticed it

That is a valve stem cap. They are used to compensate either a worn eccentric or valve stem. Also used on reground cams.
You may have to install on your remaining valves OR get new eccentrics. Oversize eccentrics are also available.

They are called valve lash caps too. VAC carries the caps. Ireland carries the eccentrics.

They are pretty common. I believe your valve stems are 8MM, so any valve lash cap for an 8MM valve should do the trick.

They have them but good luck finding someone that can help you get the correct one. Best thing you can do is have one with you and know exactly what you need before you get there.

Ireland also carries caps, just not listed since oversize eccentrics are a cleaner solution.

OP Take a very close look at your valvetrain to identify why they were used. Unless you've got a reground cam they were installed as a hack solution for worn parts.
