Posted in the tire section and not receiving much feedback...

I just bought a used set of Rial Imola 2 piece wheels. They are staggered but the price was so right I could not pass up on them. Guy had them on an M3 or so he says. They are 17x 8 ET38 up front and 17x 8.5 ET20 in the rear.

Question is what size tires am I putting on these for max performance in HPDE? I do not want a dedicated track tire...yet. Willing to roll the rear fenders if need be. I do not want to run ridiculous camber in the rear if it can be helped. I know I would be better off with a square set up but if I wanted to make these work how do I do it?

I am currently running stock E36 non-sport springs with M3 billy sports in the rear. Stock up front except I am using Bimmerworld Track CABs. I will be changing the springs out ASAP for either stock M3 or H&R Race (have not decided yet). I will be switching the front shocks for M3 billy sports as well.

Thanks for your help guys.

I have a set of 17x8 et 20s style 71s running 215/45zr17 that I tested on my car and they rubbed on the rear under load (going over bumps and heavy turning) when on stock suspension. Rolled read guards would be a must. There is a thread with heaps of peoples experices with their own e36.

See if these match any of your wheel specs: http://www.m3forum.net/m3forum/showthread.php?t=428767

Front will fit just fine.

The rear at 8.5J et20 will require massive pulling, especially if you want to run more than a 215 (which you probably do for track work) ... my opinion? Get rid of them and buy something that fits the car (or trade your 2 rears for 2 fronts).

You could always have a shop shave the backsize of those wheels to make your offset a few mm higher.

Yea, that rear pair will require tiny tires...I have 16x8 et23 on my rears w/ 205/50/16 that rubbed like mad until I hammered the inner lip a bit

Sent from my thumbs to your eyes.

I had 225/40/18 et46 with pulled fenders and it was very tight. Looking at willtheyfit.com shows your new wheels poking out 18mm further than mine which would slam into my already pulled fenders.
