Thought I would get Lee could get me contact info for Nat but his private box is full. Anyone have his cell or email? Bought his E31 years ago and rotors and perhaps calipers are not factory and as a result in a jam. Thanks Jeff

Jeff,
Did you try sending him a message through the SESF website? He's listed under members.

Most likely factory but from possibly a different e31 with larger brakes. I am sure Nat will know and you can contact him at Atlantic Euro. If you need to know ASAP: try searching realoem or similar site and compare listed rotor dims.

My shop already did that...dealer parts are way off, front rotors on there much smaller than factory. thanks.

Sorry Jeff - have been traveling overseas and didn't realize my inbox here was full. Sounds like you were able to get an e-mail off to him.

Well, reached Nat. Seems it was the PO that went through the brakes and kinda stuck at this point determining what the heck he did. Both of us have struggled to find any documentation of such from PO. My mechanic says they are about 10.5" in diameter and smaller than the rears. Makes noooo sense. I did find some pads for the car that Nat had sent along when were purchased it but they're for the rears. This is becomining a major PIA/problem.

Have you got any pictures? I don't remember any stock 5 lug BMWs with similar offsets using rotors under 280mm (11") in diameter. Pictures of the calipers might help determine what is on it.

First thought was was that someone had big brakes installed and then replaced them with something like the e24/e28 stock brakes to sell it. But those are larger than what you have mentioned.

That's like...267MM??? I don't know any E23-E34 car with rotors that size...Are they vented? Standard front rotor should be 302MM and Brembo's are 324MM. IIRC...

At this point I don't think it much matters what's actually on there, it needs to go. Single piston E31 calipers aren't that expensive or hard to come by. The pads and rotors are substantially higher than other models, but you'd be needing those anyway.

Can't you just order the correct size from any parts supplier? I'm puzzled by your dilemma.

302 is for E32/E34, all E31's use the same 324mm rotor whether they are single piston or 4 piston calipers.

That is exceedingly strange... then again god only knows what brakes are on my car - I've had the thing since 2005 now and I haven't touched 'em...
