Hello,

I plan to purchase my first BMW/car period soon and am looking at a 2007 328xi 4 door sedan. To the many who have had numerous BMWs,

1. i am envious
2. do you think this would be a great first BMW (please dont try to talk me out of purchasing a BMW like the many people i personally know and have wanted to karate chop in the neck :))
3. if you currently have or have had this car, how do you like it? what are your issues? pros? cons?

Thank you very much.

Have you considered getting a BMW that actually looks good? Or are you set on that model?

very long appreciation for them.
ive honestly never driven a BMW sedan or coupe but I'm quite familiar with the X5. I've driven my sisters whenever I could get my hands on it. she traded it in for a Q5 which broke my heart lol.

and I kinda want something that I deem looks better with time. 01-04 330CI may be the best looking model to me.

I would suggest an older model Bimmer to be your first car. Like an E36 or E46. They are relatively easy to work on, parts aren't too expensive, reliable as long as you keep up on maintenance and more of a driver's car. My first car and Bimmer was a 1996 318ti with the autotragic slushbox. It was a great little car aside from being slooow and I would recommend it as a first car to anyone wanting to enter the BMW world.

Maybe get something a little faster like a 325is or 328is. I don't know if buying an ///M is a good idea for a first car.

My $0.02

I got myself an e46 325i 2001. Such an awesome first car , pretty quick when you put down the pedal and it's incredibly fuel efficient. As said above it's defiantly a divers car

thank you both. what would be a fair price? I've found one around 9k. it has 72000 miles and it's a 2004. 325i

That sounds like a great deal! My 2001 325i was at $8k with 107k miles but since I financed it, it went up to around 11k.

You'll usually find good condition E46s around the 6k-12k range. Just a matter of which model you wanna get.

My first car was a '97 328i m-sport. Best few thousand I ever spent. Fuel efficient, cheap, reliable, fun to drive. I'd still have it if my friend didn't decide to drive it out of province and get it stuck.

If you can afford an e46 instead of e36, 330ci is usually recommended as it's only a bit more than the other 3-series. Fun to drive.
