Hey guys I've got a 95 e36 m3 and when I unlock the door from the drivers side it unlocks that door and the trunk but not the passenger side. The car has been doing this since I bought so I don't know if that's normal or what...the weird this is when I go to the passenger side and unlock the car it unlocks everything? Idk I don't get it lol. Also did these cars come with a remote to unlock them? Any help is appreciated!

Sounds like the lock actuator in the passenger side door is bad. There is a remote to lock/unlock. Check the E36 sub forum to find more information. It is a pretty easy retrofit because most E36 were prewired for security system

im having the same exact issue with my 95 m3.. I took it bmw and they charged me 140 to diagnose the problem (which was the actuator) and wanted another 350 to fix it(which I didnt do).. you just have to buy an oem actuator and DIY... theres prob a video on YouTube on how to do it.. thats on my to do list but it actually doesnt bother me that much so im holding off for a little..

I have the same car, same issue. Never bothered me enough to fix it. I Just reach across and open it from the inside.
It's on the "someday ill get to it" list.
