I have a 1983 635csi, when they imported it to US they swap the cluster to miles, and my car have 5k rev tacho. And now I want to change it back to 7k rev meter, and I bought few 7k rev meter that won't fit. The issue is with the plate is that area of tach the plate comes up futher and interferes with how the tach rests against the backing plate. There is about an inch different in height between. It is conductor plate problem?

Not sure I know of any E24 with a 5k tach.

Is the entire cluster correct? Maybe it would be best to get a whole new cluster to compare? If it happened the same as the E28, they made a change in ~85 and the 'guts' of the cluster are slightly different, having to do with the SI board lights.

That's weird. I have swapped tachs and speedos from E23, E24 and E28 from years '82-'87 and they all seemed to work???
I have an '84 euro and replaced the speedo with one from an '85 E23when the odo stopped. Works fine...I dunno?
