Someone on another forum brought this to my attention, but I thought I'd share it here. It owes more of it's design to the e9 than e24, but there's nothing wrong with that. I'd take this over any current BMW offering in a heartbeat!

Interesting. Not a fan of the big body panel in place of the grille (on sides of kidneys), but the rest is excellent.
I'm going to let it sink in a bit and then revisit it, however my first impression is although I like it somewhat it seems to be a bit bulbous (especially the roofline) and not quite "crisp" enough or "defined" for my taste. I also think the beltline is too high and there isn't enough side glass area, especially when you look at the side views with the models looking out from the passenger seat.

Yeah...something about that grill appointment conflicts with the rest of the car which is very interesting.

Nose is too high. Looks good from above.

I think they did a decent job on the roof line, the overall side view and the rear end. The front looks like they modeled if after the older CS coupes (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/BMW_New_Class_coup%C3%A9) which do not look that good in my opinion, the later front end (1970's) looks much better. I like the way the interior looks (when the door is closed over the crt screen). It would be cool if they made something like this. I'm not sure where it would fit in their product portfolio since it's already overloaded (1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6. 7 series with multiple variations on each one, plus the Z and X series).
Thanks for sharing the link.

The face is not good aerodynamically, the proportion of body height to cabin height is off by ~30%, and the hood line should droop more at the nose. The aerodynamic center of the car is too high, as is perhaps the center of gravity.
It would be better to reintroduce the original elegant shape of ~40 years ago, with aerodynamic refinements.
Ford made similar aesthetic mistakes when they changed the original Mustang fastback proportions into ever more grotesque versions.
OTOH, the simple but complete design of the dashboard is appealing.
