I installed a set of style 5's recently. I used some normal length lug bolts. Today, while driving around town, I heard a rattle, thumping noise. I got home and removed the center cover to find 3 lug nuts loose, 1 coming out completely. Without the cover, I would have lost 1 or 3. Any ideas on how to keep these on in the future? I've installed many other wheels on this car, 635csi, and never had any problems. Thanks. They seem to go into the wheel pretty far. So?

Are you running spacers? If not are they the stock length wheel bolts? Are these the 17x8 et20 style 5s? If so they are a 74.1 cb. Are you sure your vehicle has this center bore and if not are you running hubcentric rings?
Are you torquing in a star pattern and torquing them to spec? After you torque each lug nut you should drive around and re-torque them about 15-20 miles later to ensure they are all torqued good.

No spacers, stock 17x8, I think stock bolts, but I dont recall if I torqued them or not. I have a set of bbs ra's that I believe I had the same problem. I tend to tighten them to what I feel is tight, so after some thought, that could be the problem. What is the correct torque for these?

You aren't applying anti-seize to the bolts or the hub at all, correct? Also take a little wire brush and hit the rotor/hub and the back of your wheel good. Then spray everything with some brake cleaner. If you have corrosion built up and mount the wheel on you could torque everything down to spec but if some of the corrosion gets loose then all of a sudden your lugs won't be torqued properly.

See all of that corrosion built up around the ring and all over the hub. Just hit it with a wire brush.

Thats not it, as my wheels, bolts, rotors, etc are as clean as new. I remember now having this same problem wirh my bbs ra's last year. Now on those, the bolts did not come off, but they were loose. Maybe I need longer bolts?

Are they the right bolt type for the wheel? Conical seat vs. ball seat.
