View Full Version : ACS type 3 wheel fitment

I tried posting this in the e39 section but haven't gotten a response, so I figured I'd try here.
I have a set of these wheels that are ET43. I've read the e39 specs are ET15-25. Does that mean I have to have at least 18mm spacers to put these on my 528i? If I have metal spacers with a 72.5 bore, is it easy to get them bored to 74.1?
Thanks.

Hi
There's many threads about how to run non E39 specific wheels on an E39. You can either have them re-bored to 74.1mm or run hubcentric spacers. It is easy to get them re-bored, you need to find a reputable and capable local engineering shop to do the work for you. With wheels as nice as the ACS, you'll probably find they're a larger 76 or 82 mm CB so you won't need to go this route. You will need to space them further out to better run the E39 preferred offset range. You will notice that the wheels you are looking at are 3 series (or others) fitment and the 'lip' of the wheel is quite small. E39 fitment ACS wheels had a larger front lip and also a similarly larger one for the rear although those tend to be the same for different model fitments. For me, I personally like a deep lip front wheel on my E39 but I know others don't mind the much smaller lip that comes on 3 series fitment wheels.
Cheers, Dennis!

Thanks Dennis.
You are correct, there are a lot of threads about wheel fitment. None that I have read answered my questions.
The bore on the wheels I have is 82, so I don't want to bore them. They did come off an e46 i used to have. I haven't been able to find 74.1 to 82 spacers so I'm wondering if I can get 72.5 spacers and have them bored to 74.1.
I'm still trying to figure out whether or not I need 18mm spacers to make these fit.

Hi,
You will need spacers regardless - the offset as mentioned above isn't suitable for the E39.
To bore these wheels would make the CB larger, which you don't need. You require hubcentric adaptors which have a 74.1mm bore on the hub side and 72.56 on the outer face. You could then use the centre bore plastic (or have metal ones made up) adaptors which take the actual wheels CB from 82 to 72.56mm
Cheers, Dennis!
