How would it sound with the factory exhaust left on, and just the resonators removed and replaced with either:
-straight pipes
or
-dynomax racing

Yeah i had that same question on my mind lately too. How would it sound also with an AC Schnitzer exhaust on an E39 with the resonator removed??

I upgraded to a Remus/Romulus exhaust.
We first did a test with the resonators on.....to quiet for me. More close to stock.
After we removed the resonators, It was a better growl.
Now after the "break in period" I really like it.
Not too loud, but a nice deep. Not to add that I removed that heavy ass stock muffler.

I put the Dinan exhaust on my 540. A little dissapointed in the sound. I remember reading a post by Humanoid that without the resonator, it was too loud. So, I replaced the double-kidney shaped resonator with a straight 14" stainless magnaflow (although, I think other brands would basically accomplish the same thing).
She growls now... and when you hit it, the dude next to you knows you got sack.
