Hello,

Recently you guys helped me on figuring out how to get my jammed shut passenger door opened (I had to remove the passenger seat and inner door panels…)

That said, I am now left not knowing where these two small black felt pieces go. Naturally they exist to prevent a rattle and creak. They are 100% related to or belonging to the passenger seat. I just don't know where they go. I really don't want to just leave them out as the car was designed to have them for some reason - plus I am anal like that and want everything back the way it was.

Its a 1988 E24 M6 Canadian version (almost same as USA spec).

Below are three pictures for your reference. I included one of the seat bolt so you can gauge the size.

Thanks for any help in advance.

Did you need to take any plastic bits off to gain access to the seat bolts?

If you did perhaps they belong between the plastic and metal frame.

Hi

No I didn't. Literally took off the 4 bolts and the seat was out. Minus disconnecting the wires for the seat electronics/motors. There was a small black plastic box in the front held by two screws which I removed that covered the connectors for power but these are not associate with it as afar as I can tell.

Ha ha! I remember seeing some of those, too, once.

I threw them away.

Did you remove the rear seats? I am pretty sure mine were from behind the rear seats, probably "anti-squeak" pads and would explain a lot....

I'm pretty sure they isolate some metal "webbing" from fabric...OR wiring from something...I would pull drivers seat and look to see if I can identify??? I dunno. That's all I got :beer

Hello,

For those that want to know... I have figured it out. To answer sprocket, I had not remove that back seats. Only the passenger one.

After hours of gently poking under the passenger seat prior to re-install, probing under the driver seat with a mirror and light (without removing it from car) etc etc - eureka… One each goes on the top of the two rear motors at the back over the seat bottom. I found matching pieces on the driver seat motors. Obviously to either prevent squeaking and/or chafing over the metal cylinder of the motors by wires or the under seat cushion metal support harness. The glue dried up from age and lost its adhesiveness to hold the felt in place. They are back on :) and all is good and original land again :). I and glad because would not have been able to rest until I found out where they went.

Thanks

Max

Damn, I didn't think of that! Anyone one know where i may source such glue? LOL

I know - I know, I anal with that but I really didn't want a rattle or squeak when I didn't have any before. Its the one thing that drives me nuts on a car.
