Had the AudioVox (Toshiba)analog cell phone factory/dealer installed in one of my cars. Took it out long ago, opened it up last month to see if there were any internals I could use since it was dead technology. Lo and behold, there is a gold shielding plate in there. Jeweler paid $50 for it. Go figure. That was in the main control in the trunk.

Actually gold is found in most electronics you have in your household, cells, radios , PC, ect...... its used cause it does not corrode and is a good conductor. That is why there are quite a few company that call themselves "recyclers" in which they make you believe that they are doing you a favor by picking up old electronic garbage. these companies make a good profit with all the gold their remove from these electronics.

Will keep my eyes open for that now. Find one and it pays for the trip to the yard that day. Find two and I make a profit- parts in tow. Thanks for the heads up.
