Vibration from D/S

Ok, I'm having a speed based vibration in my D/S. New carrier bearing and flex disk. I think that because of the way the bearing was placed on the D/S that it wasn't preloaded towards the engine. Could this cause a very noticeable vibration? or would it be fine until the carrier bearings wore out? What are my options and any other info you guys (and maybe gals?) could enlighten me with would be helpful. Should I just get a new shaft?

The carrier bearing must be preloaded or you can experience vibrations. U joints can wear out and cause the same. BMW driveshafts do not have serviceable U joints. Check these guys out.

Thank you, I bet the preload was forgotten by my mechanic, Ill ask him to check it out in a coupe weeks when I see him again. I have an 85 635 with a 260/6 in it, is this D/S the same length as any other year? Im planning on buying a new shaft from turnerMS because they sell many variants with serviceable Joints, I just need to make sure they are the right length as the shift link I bought from them was at least an inch too short to fit. The reported length for this combo is 1566 MM for all e24 with 260/6 trans. 26111225461 is the part number on RealOEM for 9/85 and up. The link below is the D/S I intend to purchase if it will fit. Do you all think this is a good idea or will it not fit a 4/85 chassis? The manual for my model is supposed to be a 265/6. Is there a difference?

I believe the length for a 265 tranny driveshaft is 1522mm. Part# 26111225759 After prod date 9/85 you have a 1986 model year car.

I should clarify, the 260/6 is a swapped in tranny, is the length the same as a later model

?? I need some help guys. Is the length of the D/S for an early 85 model chassis with a 260/6 trans the same as a later model with the same 260/6? I need to know before I invest 463 dollars in a new one.
