View Full Version : Chip for ECU 0261200011
First of all I want to thank all the people on this forum for sharing your knowledge. I have had some starting and other issues for a couple of months and it finally looks like I have got the Motronic basic system by the balls thanks to this forum and itīs older posts. It has been running good for a month and a half now, so naturally I started wondering. Would it be possible to fit a chip in the ecu in my car? I have been searching on the net and it looks to me that it is the 059 that is available and not much more. Could anyone point me in the direction to find one? (If it exsists..) Car is a 1983 Euro 635csi automatic. ECU number is 0261200011 (http://rover.ebay.com/rover/0/e11050.m43.l1123/7?euid=52f7fd5448204d58b9b849afd0dbe66b&loc=http%3A%2F%2Fcgi.ebay.co.uk%2Fws%2FeBayISAPI.d ll%3FViewItem%26item%3D111224600529%26ssPageName%3 DADME%3AX%3AAAQ%3AGB%3A1123) Thanks again.

I believe that the 011 ECU is not chipable.

Correct. 011 cannot be chipped.

You will have to actually check your unit to see if it has a removable chip installed. Some of the 008 and 011 motronic units had a removable chip but it was rare and generally the newest of the series. The next problem is to find someone that actually has a tune for it. If you can create your own tune, it is possible to remove (desolder) your chip and solder in a new one or install a removable socket and new chip. Years back; there were a few companies that you could send your DME to and have the chip switched out. I believe Autothority was one of those companies.
I see... Well, thanks again. I will let this one go for now, some of the companies that used to do this have shut down I have discovered.
