Popped these onto the e60 today. Rears no issues. Front driver no problem other than the busted front bumper touching the tire. No rubbing at the top of the tire at the bottom of the strut.
Passenger side however its as if the wheel and tire are too large. It hits the bottom of the strut.

But only on one side????
Idea?
I know it's e60 but maybe someone here had a similar issue?
The wheel well splash liner in that wheel is trashed like it took the grunt of a blow out. Wondering if that could have caused a problem?
The control thrust arm on the drivers side is trashed but the passenger side seemed ok if that matters.

About the only thing that would cause the spring perch to hit is if the strut is "clocked" wrong in the knuckle, or if the one that isn't rubbing isn't inserted all the way.
Compare the relative positions of left and right strut when the wheel is pointed straight ahead. Make sure there are no differences.

They did appear the same but I'll check and take photos in case I'm not seeing something. Iirc I actually looked at the perch first thinking it was not right but ended up looking ok.
Assuming this is not the issue, what else would I need to consider
The wheels are from my e38 and are 235 50 18 all around.

Although its not likely, I suppose its possible that the spring perch is bent or damaged.
There really isn't much to go wrong from the spring perch to the wheel bearing that would cause that much misalignment. If your wheel bearing was completely trashed, it might allow enough movement to make the tire hit, but you would have felt that a long time ago.
Can you tell if its the sidewall or the tread area thats hitting? As in, is it a camber problem, or a diameter problem?

Top of tire, inner part is what's rubbing. Enough to not let it get installed all the way.

ABOVE...passenger side (problem side) with smaller tire installed
BELOW...drivers side. with proper style 94 installed like the other 2 wheels.

It looks like you need to rotate the strut counterclockwise (when looking from the top) about 5° to make the orientations match.
Hard to say, but it doesn't look like the strut is wrong, just clocked differently.

Look at the struts. One is smaller...

Why does it look like like the spring isn't seated all the way around in the pad?

It looks like the spring is smaller too. may need to get some lowering springs. forced upgrade ;)
