2007 525XI wont crank.. HAve an ! in the display...

Went to move my wifes 525xi this morning.. All the lights work, battery seems to be charged. I put in the key and hit the start button but no result.. There is a ! in the display.. any ideas?

Leave your lights on and try it again. If they flicker you might not have enough to turn car. How cold is it there? You might need a jump.

If the battery is good, I'm almost certain the starter is dead.

If the car has comfort access, it will do this if it does not detect the key remote inside the vehicle. Mine will show the ! in the cluster and not start until I move the key to the interior of the vehicle. Since the key is in the ignition, maybe there is some battery dead in the remote?

thank you guys for the help.. All lights are working. Dash is all lite up.. Sounds like the starter.. Have to have it picked up and towed....
