Listing the car I bought for my son. I guess it is not the car to give to a 16yo...Let me know what you think.

Thanks!
Ben

He should be grateful he has a car at 16. I would have taken anything, and my parents would have told me to piss off if I didn't like what I was given. Good looking car though, price might be a bit steep for a 318 though, that's 325i money there.

As says his son lost his license, I think the son enjoyed it too much

aye, let him suffer then. That sucks though, responsibility's a bitch at 16.

Paid wayy too much for a 318, couldve gotten an e46 or a e36 325is for that money here in houston. Clean car though, glws

Losing one's license while driving a 318i? Impressive.

Correct, and I am the one that actually took his license away. He got two speeding tickets in it in a very short period of time. The first one, I chalked it up to bad luck (he is a good kid) and let him do defensive driving so it wouldn't go on his record. The second, he (we) had to go to court over, luckily the judge let him do deferred disposition (probation) which if he doesn't get a ticket for 6 months, it won't go on his record either. I am taking his license away for 6 months until the probation is over, and if/when I give it back, he will not be driving this car.

Yep, he thinks it's a toy. He's grown up with me having him race 4 wheelers, dirt bikes, and shifter karts so far, so now I have to teach him that not everything in life is a race.

I knew when I bought the car that I was paying too much. The clean history and condition of the car won me over. Also, I was only looking for 4 door, 5 sp, 318's. My thought was "how much trouble can he get in with a 4 door/4 cylinder??? Plus, I was thinking of gas mileage...

I have nothing to hide as far as the price. I paid $4250 for it, put $1500 in making the entire front end completely new after my son ran over a curb and bent the driver side control arm, also another $400 in fixing the oil filter housing leak, plus misc. fixes here and there.

Exactly, and the reason I went with a 318. I have to say though, this car makes you want to drive spirited. I drive my M Coupe like a grandma but whenever I get in this, I just want to have fun with it. Very fun car to drive, not exactly sure why? Must be the suspension I assume, and, it is peppy for a 4 banger...Plus, this car drives very, very tight. Zero slop.

As far as the price, I'm very negotiable, just trying to recoup some of the money I have in it.

Sorry...Didn't mean to write a book...

But can your son do an ebrake turn in it? Studies have shown that's a direct way to a teenage girls...heart.

Too funny.

So, in all honesty, what do you all feel the car is worth?

Its very clean, but with the glut of e36's on the market locally and in houston I would be surprised if you got more than $3500ish for it. Its a shame it has the 4cyl in it, an m52 wouldve got you $500 or more over asking price.

Lol, that's what I'll have to teach my son.

And that is exactly what I wanted to pay for the car when I bought it. The seller was asking $5400, I got him down to $4250, he wouldn't budge any more than that, and I wanted the car.

Even with the all of the money I have in it now, $3500 is not too far off from what I would be willing to take...
