For 2012 vs 2013

Hey guys. I currently own a 2002 745i I which I've had for almost 7 Year's. I'm currently looking at updating and have been looking for a little bit and was curious to see if anyone e can she'd light on the 2 cars I'm thinking of purchasing.
I noticed that they brought back VALVETRON8CS for 2013. Fortunately I never had any problems with my current 7 but have read and heard some Horror stories. Has there been any reliability issues with the new system?
Also noticed the tranny is now 8 SPEED vs 6 SPEED. Are there any reliability issues with the new gear box?
Since owning a 2002 7 series, just figured I would do a little.more research before buying another 7 and getting stuck with a few random SUPER COSTLY REPAIR BILLS.

The 2013 N63tu has several updates(injectors, crankcase ventilation, etc,) that were problem areas on the N63. So far the engine has proven reliable although they both still consume oil(a quart every 1,000 miles is normal). You also get the updated navigation system/Idrive with the 2013 model. If you hold out for a 2014 it has a new animated instrument cluster.

What year did you get 2013 or 2012?
Was not clear in the picture or the description as to year!

I bought a 2013. Since I purchased it I installed some Ac Schnitzer springs, trunk and roof spoiler as well!!

Car has been pretty good to me. I did an oil change at 1000k and am planning another at 2500k.
