So my 90' 325is is running stock suspension and the oem 14in basket weaves from 24 years ago. I decided that it's about time I put a new setup on it but I am completely new to all of this! This is the set I will be purchasing, http://www.ecstuning.com/BMW-E30-325is-M20_2.5L/Wheels/Aftermarket_Alloys/ES2702439/ and I am unsure about the fitment. It includes hub centric ring to help fitment but will I need thinner tires with a wider wheel? And should I lower it on new springs to make the gap work out?
Thanks for the help and I apologize for my noobish question haha!

If the suspension is indeed stock and 24 years old I would consider an upgrade. Use one of the may combonatios of shocks and springs. Also you will want to replace all the rubber bushings in the suspension system, i.e. control arms, ball joints ect.. Putting +2 wheels on he car will strain the suspension. ECS is a reputable company, I'm sure fitment is good. When using hub centric rings make sure your hubs are clean and use proper technic when tightening the lug bolts. Tire size will probobly be 205/50-16 anything wider may rub the fender or shock tower.

Wow the Wheels I am seeing for your car are 16x7, sounds like you might have gone too wide, but why would ECS sell wheels that are too wide? I would think you would need a 225 to fit on those wheels, hopefully it doesn't rub. But yeah regular size would be 205/50/16

I drove an E30 for many years and the 16X8 is wide for the car uless you are looking for something just for autocross. I would say it is going to take some fender modification to make them work. A 16X7 would fit a lot better.
If I can help let me know./

15x8.5 et17 with 225/50R15s

Front heavy 6-cylinder E30s need all the front wheel width they can get. It is too bad E38 16x8 OEM/BBS wheels are 5x120. There are no disadvantage of going with a 8" rim and 205s--other than curbs.

That may be true for autocross or the track but not faor a daily driver that is not pushed to the limits.
