Hello fellow e38 lovers. I own a 01 740i and I have owned it for 5 years and I am still thrilled by it and in love with it. I have invested quite a bit of money into it, but when I go down the road oh what a feeling and I am not talking about a toyota, which is a good car by the way. Lately, I have been thinking about personalizing the car a little bit and I have kept mine all stock and believe me she is a beauty. But I have been talking to the guys in the part department at the dealership about lowering the car and they have advised against saying the geometry would be thrown off and the tire would wear prematurely and the something would be lost in the handling. I know some of you have lowered your cars and I am interested in whether you encountered this problem and what you did to correct it, if you did correct it. Thanks guys and gals and I am wishing you all happy holidays.

My input:

first off, it's "input"

secondly, probably half of the people on this forum have lowered their cars. You can lower the car (to a certain extent) and with the correct parts (rear lower adjustable control arms for instance) maintain an alignment that will not prematurely wear your tires.

happy holidays

Premature tire wear lol

It's just tires, they're not expensive.
