Hi all,

I bought a (2005 plate) 5 series E60 525d sport on saturday. Today after taking it to a garage with a fault i find out in needs 4 new tires, my own fault for not check them properly, but 1 has a nail and the others have wear on the inside walls, so i didn't notice.

the main issue is, 3 times it hasn't started. the started sounds like its motor is working fine, but the engine will not started up or even turn over, nothing whats so ever.

3 faults then appear on my i drive screen. traction control, cruise control and fuel pump. After leaving it half an hour its starts fine with no fault showing. When driving everything seems fine.

i've been told it may be a power management relay, or engine management system issue.

if anyone has any useful info it would be great.

Christmas is cancelled this year!

Battery may be weak. Have the battery charged and see if those symptoms persist.

I can't even believe this, buying a car without even checking the tires? What?! I love my e60, but an older e60 is not the type of car that you can just buy and ignore. It may be a little too much car for someone who isn't comfortable checking the amount of tread on tires.

The errors that you are seeing could be caused by a battery issue, a low voltage issue will throw those faults. Check our battery and alternator, assuming at least one of those is bad you will need to replace it and then have them program the battery and clear the faults. You may even luck out and find out that its something as simple as the intelligent battery sensor (IBS) wire being loose. In a low voltage situation, the IBS will not let the car try to start.
