Is my 528 dying? I hope not

Won't pass Cal smog. Check engine light on. PO500. Done some searches here and have read lots of threads. But I can't figure out best DIY path for me. My Speedometer only works sporadically. Cruise control does work. I am also getting a PO740 code. Torque converter clutch circuit. Not sure if I should deal with these one at a time, are they related? I can do DIY stuff, but I am no mechanic, not by a LONG shot. So 8th grade level if you can. Thanks in advance as always for your thoughts.

Oh, I forgot one part...sorry, I'm trying to not be reallt depressed about this. My ABS light is on.

Just a guess (didn't look up the codes) but one issue is possible ABS/DSC module failure. They can be rebuilt for much less than new in most cases...

the po500 is the speed sensor failure and the po740 torque converter clutch circuit.

Get someone capable of reading the BMW specific codes from the ABS/DSC module.
Deal with the speed sensor first.
Then see if the TCC circuit code stays.
