Does it came with cassette only?

The one on my 03 540i MSport came with cassette. Same as my 06 E53 4.8iS. There's a CD changer in the trunk.
The one on carlova's 01 530i also came with a cassette.

I think only the 3 series had room behind 16x9 screen for the CD option.
You'd have to cut thru the air channels in your car - probably not worth the headache.

Hi,

Only the E46 widescreen from this era of cars had a CD slot option in the monitor chassis. The E39, E53, E38 all had cassette only.

If you *really* need a CD there, you can modify the monitor chassis and fit a slim half DIN disc player - here's the guide on how to do it;

Use the plug in the trunk for the CD changer, and get an iPod adapter that plugs in there. Then copy CDs to your phone or iPod in a high bitrate to preserve decent sound quality. You will never miss the CD player.
