Buying an '01 525i....quick question.

I found this car and it's in very good condition. The only thing that I'm curious about is the wheels. I was under the impression that a different style wheel came on the car. It has a sport package and has those 2-piece mesh wheels on it. Did those come stock? Thanks guys!

I think those are the stock wheel. Sport package was 17". Non-sport was 16". That should help.

Those are the stock wheels for the 525i sport in 2001. Bad thing about the sport package on the 525i is the steering wheel is 4 spoke, not the nice //M 3 spoke and the seats are not the sport seats.

I know because I bought one in November:

Thanks for the reply. Not too worried about the seats or steering wheel. I have a 540i6 for the steering wheel (comfort seats option) and a Supra for seats and all the speed I need. :D

We bought the car used.

Those are the "Style 5" Two piece 17" wheels that were the upgrade for the sport package on the 528 and 525.

On the 525, the sport package is abreviated and comes with only the wheels and tires, Xenons and lowered suspension. The seats and //M Steering wheel are not offered on the 525i.

There was a write-up in Roundel about the 525 vs the 528 last year that explained the difference.

Also, the 530 sports (I think 2002-2003) got the style 42's:

A more modern designed cross spoke wheel.

My favorite factory wheel is the Style 32 in staggered setup. Nice looking and easier to clean. The style 5's are terrible to keep clean.
