I received my clutch package (JBR steel FW & clutchmasters Stg 2). It came with a new TOB.
Comparing the new TOB and old one, the old one seems much more substantial. The new one is a sachs.

Is this what a new M3 TOB should look like? I don't want to put a new (and expensive) clutch assembly in only to cut corners on the TOB.
The new one is on the right side in the pics. The old one looks like it has quite a bit more structure.

Thoughts?

Thanks a lot.

Can't speak for your setup, but in some kits the throwout bearing is selected based on dimensions to fit properly with their pressure plate/ clutch/ flywheel combo. Just something to consider. I would pass on the old and use the new; knowing new is Sachs is additional peace of mind.

Oh no, I would never reuse the old one. I guess I would buy an OEM one that would match the one I removed. I did a bit more looking. The Sachs TOB sells for about $45 and the BMW OEM $65. I realize that an OEM one will typically be higher in cost. So is OEM better? Or it really does not matter, they are both good. Thanks!
